Rocket Reader Program 
A tiny division of the Accelerated Reader Program, the Rocket Reader Program is designed for the students in Kindergarten through 2nd grade.  Each month K-2 students receive a Rocket Reader calendar with a rocket displayed on each day.  Each grade has a different requirement, but each time a student fills the requirement, they get to color in a rocket.  Each student who fills in the appropriate number of rockets that month for their grade level receives a prize. 

Kindergarten - Students can fill in a rocket for each book they read, no matter how short the book may be.  At the end of the month if the student has colored in 30 rockets, he or she will receive a prize. 

1st grade – Students are required to read a certain number of minutes to color in a rocket.  At the end of the month if the student has colored in 15 rockets, he or she will receive a prize.  

2nd grade- Students are required to read a certain number of minutes to color in a rocket.  At the end of the month if the student has colored in 20 rockets, he or she will receive a prize.

The point of the Rocket Reader and Accelerated Reader Programs is to encourage reading.  Students in Kindergarten through 2nd grade are allowed to participate in both the Rocket Reader and the Accelerated Reader Programs.
