Today all of our classes joined together online to listen to holiday music from our past music concerts and make cards for senior citizens in our community. We enjoyed seeing everyone, including those students who joined us from home today. Together we made over 200 cards to spread happiness and cheer!

On Friday, Dec.11 our Student Senate is hosting an Ugly Sweater Day. Everyone is encouraged to wear something cheerful and merry!
At the end of the day Friday, all of our classes will be joining together to make holiday cards for senior citizens in nursing homes as part of the WIXY card drive. We're excited to see how many cards we can make to share with our community!

Special thanks to the Philo Fire Department for their visit to the school this morning as part of Fire Safety Week. The PFD observed and certified the school fire drill and met with Kindergarten & 1st graders to share their truck and talk about fire safety. All our students were reminded of the importance of having a fire safety plan at school and at home.

East Families: Coming home today are orange papers with student names to be used for picking up car-riders at dismissal.
We are working to streamline our dismissal process and are asking parents (or whomever is picking up) to please display these cards on the dash or window to help us know who you are picking up.

Our new solar panel array is installed and ready to go! In a normal year, we would have shared more information about the project, so here are some interesting facts to share - the panels were installed and will be maintained at no cost to the district, are expected to provide a 15-20% reduction in energy costs, and will come with educational resources to learn about how they work. There will even be a live display inside tracking the energy being produced. All good things for East!

Dear East families, please see the following information with more information about our back-to-school plan.
Teachers and administrators are creating a detailed plan to describe the format and expectations of remote learning for students who do not attend in-person. The remote learning plan will be provided on July 31 so that families are fully-informed before making their enrollment decision.
Elementary students who participate at school for in-person instruction (8:15am-1:30pm) will fulfill their daily requirements of 5 clock hours of instruction and will not have any further remote learning after the end of their school day.
Elementary buildings will be providing a device to every student. K/1 students will be issued an iPad; students in grades 2-5 will be issued a Chromebook. These devices will stay at school while we are normally in session, but will be sent home if our school transitions to remote learning.

Our spirit Fridays are continuing this week, with this week's theme of ENCOURAGING WORDS FRIDAY. Students are encouraged to make signs, posters, artwork, etc. that display encouraging messages, words of inspiration, or motivation advice.

East Families: Today some of our great teachers and staff are at East to distribute students' belongings that were left in classrooms. If possible, please visit during one of our times today: A-L last names,7:30-10am; M-Z last names,10-12:30pm, and anyone from 4:30-7pm.
