New Student information
Do you have a child who will be attending kindergarten at Unity East in the fall?
Please let us know by completing the following form. This will allow us to contact you with further information and news.
Kindergarten is open to students turning 5 by Sept. 1, 2020
Registration for the 2020-21 school year is scheduled for August 4 & 5.
Due to COVID-19, registration arrangements have not been finalized. More information will be available closer to the date and will be updated on this page as soon as district plans are in place.
At registration, Kindergarten students must establish guardianship and new families must establish residency with a district administrator by providing appropriate documentation. (click here for more information)
Registration and milk fees are paid at registration. For Kindergarten students, this includes a $95 book rental fee, $26/semester milk break (optional), and $2 communication folder.
If you believe you may be eligible for free or reduced lunch prices, please complete the application. The form will be available on the school website and at registration. Students who qualify have the book rental and milk fees waived.
If your child will ride the school bus, you will sign up for transportation at registration.
At this time, kindergarten screenings are planned for August 4 & 5 during registration. More information and sign-ups will be available closer to the date. Parents will be notified of screening sign-ups through the email address on record, as well as through the school website.
At the screening, students are given basic assessments to determine their strengths by one of our Kindergarten teachers. These assessments include letter and number identification, letter sounds, and counting objects. The results help teachers plan their instruction at the start of the year based on each student’s needs.

The list of supplies used in Kindergarten can be found here.
Kindergarten students are also asked to keep a seasonal change of clothes at school in a large Ziploc bag in case of an accident.
Each year we dedicate the first two days of school to Kindergarten Conferences. Parents sign up for a 15-min conference that allows them and their child an opportunity to meet the teacher, tour the classroom, and get acquainted before the first day of school.
Kindergarten conferences are scheduled for August 19 & 20.
The first day of school for Kindergarten students is Friday, August 21.
