Unity West Families, just a reminder about after school pick-up. Please pull all the way down to the last parked car in the lot. Pull directly behind the car in front of you. Do not stop at the cones, unless that is the natural place to stop because of the person in front of you. Please do not park in the spots parallel to the pick-up line. Please stay in your vehicle. Please share this information with anyone who may pick up your student and does not get the messages from the school.

Today we welcomed a new group of little rockets! Shout out to our siblings and some of our 5th graders leaders for helping our Kindergarten students feel welcomed on their first day! #WeAreWest

Yesterday was the last first day for two of the finest. Mrs. Teri Payne will be retiring at the end of February after 27 years of service in Unit 7 as a secretary. Mrs. Susanne Gateley will be retiring at the end of the school year after 20 years of service as our school nurse. We hope you both have an incredible last ride!! #WeAreWest

We would like to welcome Mr. Joe Mancuso as our new PE teacher. Joe's hobbies are golf, hockey, and fishing. Joe is excited to teach here because, "this school already feels like home. There's such a strong sense of community, staff, students, and families all supporting one another and its something really special to be part of. I know I'll get the chance to build meaningful relationships with so many of the students, and in time, I'll know most of them by name, but already know so many through working at Hand in Hand. That kind of connection is exactly why I chose to work in a place like this. It's even more meaningful knowing that my own kids will be part of this school one day. We would like to welcome Ms. Leah Luchinski to Unity West! Leah is in her first year teaching and was previously a student teacher in the building. Leah enjoys to play pickleball and read. She is excited for this school year because she is excited to meet new students and staff! She is looking forward to creating a welcoming environment for her students and creating positive relationships that foster growth and learning as students but also as individuals! Welcome Mrs. Grace Woodcock to Unity West!! Grace joins us with 10 years of teaching experience. Her hobbies are baking, knitting, and reading. Mrs. Woodcock is excited to help a new group of students explore, grow, and learn this year! Welcome to the family Grace!

Back to School Night will be Aug. 11th from 5:00-6:00. This is an opportunity for 1st-5th grade students to meet their teacher and drop off supplies. We will have popsicles on site as well. Kindergarten families are welcome to attend, to walk the building, but will bring their supplies during your Kindergarten meet and greet time. See you there!

Due to the weather forecast we are postponing Tuesday’s run until Thursday May 22nd. The times and all other details will remain the same. Please enter the west entrance to the junior high property and if there are ticket takers there (baseball regional) just let them know you are there for the run. Unity West Kindergarten Families, the doors to the school will open at 6:45 tonight. Please keep your student's coats or anything else they will not be taking on state with them. At 6:45 the students should report to their classroom. The doors to the gym will open at that time as well. Please share this information with any other family members who may be attending tonight.
